rejoicing in hope; enduring in troubles; continuing steadfastly in prayer;

Through the Unfinished Middle
Some answers arrive much later than we would choose. A treatment takes time. A family difficulty remains unresolved. An application sits unanswered while ordinary responsibilities continue. Paul places endurance alongside hope and steady prayer. He does not describe trouble as pleasant or suggest that faithful people can hurry their way out of it. Instead, he names practices that can accompany a difficult stretch. Patience need not mean becoming passive. You can make the necessary call, keep the appointment, or ask for an update without requiring everything to be settled this morning. There is a difference between taking a useful step and repeatedly checking what you cannot move. Choose one situation that has made you impatient. Decide what action is actually yours to take, then name the unresolved part before God. You are allowed to live faithfully in the middle of a story you would prefer to have finished.
Morning Prayer
God, this unfinished situation keeps pulling at my attention. I want an answer sooner than it may come. Help me take the action that belongs to me without trying to force the rest. Keep me steady in prayer, and teach me patience that stays engaged rather than giving up. Amen.
Evening Prayer
Father, as this day closes, I thank you that hope rests in your mercy, not in my progress. Forgive the sharp words that impatience brought today, and help me forgive those who tested me. Receive the concerns I still carry, and give me rest for continued faithfulness. Through Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
