Verse & Devotion

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147:3 · World English Bible

Today's Devotion

Where the Hurt Remains

Even after the calendar has moved on, a hurt can remain tender. Other people may have stopped asking about it. You may have learned to complete your daily tasks while carefully avoiding the place that still aches.

This psalm describes God as one who heals broken hearts and binds wounds. Its language is attentive and personal. A wound is not helped by pretending it is absent. Binding it up means treating it as something that needs care.

The verse does not give a timetable for recovery. It does give you language for bringing your hurt before God without embarrassment.

This morning, name what remains painful in one honest sentence. Then consider one appropriate form of care: an appointment with a counselor, a conversation with a trusted person, or a little space after a difficult anniversary. Seeking care does not contradict bringing your broken heart to God.
