In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.

Notice One Good Gift
What is one good thing you might overlook this morning? It could be clean water, a familiar voice, a meal, or a few quiet minutes before your responsibilities begin. Paul calls believers to give thanks in everything. This is not a request to describe everything as good. Gratitude can be offered from within a difficult situation without denying its pain. We can tell the truth about what is hard and still notice what we have received. Before you begin your usual routine, name three specific things for which you are thankful. Take your time with each one. Instead of saying only that you appreciate your family, recall a particular act of care. Instead of thanking God generally for provision, notice the food on your plate. Let one of those thanks become an action today. Send a brief message to someone whose kindness you remember. Gratitude can help you notice care and respond to it.
Morning Prayer
Lord, I often hurry past the good things in my life while giving my full attention to what is missing. Open my eyes to what I have received today. I bring you both my gratitude and my unmet needs. Help me thank someone sincerely and receive ordinary kindness with care. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
Evening Prayer
Father, as this day closes, I thank you that your faithfulness does not depend on how I judge these hours. You are worthy of thanks even where questions remain. Forgive my resentful words, and help me forgive the wrongs I am still rehearsing. Receive the work left unfinished. Give me rest tonight and lead me toward a more thankful obedience tomorrow. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
