Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
Matthew 5:9 · World English Bible
Make Space for Peace
Some mornings begin with an unresolved conversation waiting for us. A sharp exchange from yesterday can follow us into breakfast, shaping what we expect from the next encounter. Jesus calls peacemakers blessed. His words describe something more active than avoiding disagreement. Making peace may require an honest conversation, a clear apology, or a willingness to stop treating another person as an opponent. Peace does not require pretending that harm is harmless or that every relationship is safe. Consider one place where you can lower the tension without hiding the truth. You might send a message that says, “I would like us to talk about what happened.” You might replace an accusation with a specific description of what hurt. You cannot decide how someone else will respond. You can choose a first step that leaves room for repair. Let that step be honest, measured, and free from the need to win.
Morning Prayer
Jesus, I bring You the tension I am carrying into this morning. Help me see where I can work toward peace without avoiding what is true. Give me courage to speak clearly and humility to own my part. Keep my desire to win from becoming more important than the person before me. Through Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
Evening Prayer
Father, as this day ends, I worship You for the mercy that welcomes people into Your family. Forgive the careless words I added to another person's burden. Thank You for each moment when hostility gave way to kindness. I leave unfinished disagreements in Your care tonight. Form in me the patience of a peacemaker, even when repair takes time. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
