Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13 · World English Bible
Hope Without a Forecast
Some mornings, the future seems to contain only problems waiting their turn. An appointment, a family concern, or an unanswered application can narrow your attention until you see little else. Paul's blessing points toward the God of hope. He does not offer a forecast in which every circumstance becomes easy. He asks that believers be filled with joy and peace, and that hope abound through the Holy Spirit. Hope here is not something we must manufacture by refusing to notice difficulty. Name the uncertainty you are carrying this morning. Then read this verse slowly, receiving it as a prayer rather than a demand to feel better immediately. Take one appropriate next step: prepare your questions, check the deadline, or make the call. Leave space beside your concern for the possibility that fear does not tell the whole story. You can face what is unresolved while asking God to nourish hope.
Morning Prayer
God of hope, I have been imagining the future through the lens of what might go wrong. I bring that fear to you without pretending it is small. Fill me with joy and peace in believing. By your Spirit, help me take the next necessary step without treating my worst expectation as certainty. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Evening Prayer
Father, as this day closes, I praise you for the hope you give your people through Christ. Some conversations still trouble me. Forgive my impatience, and help me release resentment toward others. Let your Spirit deepen my trust while unfinished matters remain unfinished. I place tonight and tomorrow under your wise care. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
