Oh come, let’s worship and bow down. Let’s kneel before Yahweh, our Maker.

Psalm 95:6 · World English Bible

Before Your Maker

Before the requests and the plans, this psalm offers an invitation to worship. It names God as our Maker and calls us to respond with reverence. Bowing and kneeling are bodily expressions of that response. They acknowledge that we did not create ourselves and that God is worthy of more than a passing place in our attention. Worship turns us toward who God is, rather than beginning and ending with what we need. This morning, take a brief moment to express that reverence. If kneeling is comfortable and possible for you, you might kneel. If not, sit or stand with deliberate attention. Physical difficulty does not prevent you from worshiping. Say simply, “You are my Maker, and I worship you.” Let those words stand without immediately adding a request. There will be space to bring your needs. For this moment, acknowledge the One to whom you are speaking.

Morning Prayer

My Maker, I worship you before I begin listing what I need. I did not give myself life, and I do not want to move through this morning as though everything begins with me. Receive my attention and reverence. Help me carry this awareness of you into the hours ahead. Amen.

Evening Prayer

Father, as this day closes, I bow my heart before you. You remain worthy of worship when my work is unfinished and my thoughts are unsettled. Forgive the times I resisted your instruction today. Give me rest, and teach me to receive tomorrow as your creature, not its ruler. Through Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
