The heavens declare the glory of God. The expanse shows his handiwork.
Psalm 19:1 · World English Bible
A Sky Worth Looking At
Above the roofs, traffic lights, and familiar streets, the sky is already telling a story. The psalmist sees more than weather. He sees creation bearing witness to the glory of its Maker. We can become so accustomed to our surroundings that we stop seeing them. Morning becomes a route to complete, a screen to check, a list to begin. This verse invites a different kind of attention, one that notices what we did not make and cannot manage. Before you step into your usual tasks, look outside for a moment. Notice the shape of a cloud, the reach of a branch, or the changing light against a wall. You do not need to manufacture a strong feeling. Simply let what you see remind you that God’s handiwork extends beyond your responsibilities. Your schedule matters, but it is not the whole world. There is room this morning to look up and marvel.
Morning Prayer
Creator God, I want to see more than the tasks waiting for me. Open my eyes to the beauty I usually pass without noticing. As I look at the world you have made, help me turn my attention toward you. Let wonder interrupt my hurry and deepen my worship this morning. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Evening Prayer
Father, the heavens have declared your glory throughout this day, even when I gave you little thought. You remain worthy of praise as darkness settles. Forgive my self-importance and receive my unfinished work. Grant me rest according to your wisdom, and guard my thoughts from resentment and fear tonight. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
